Tornado Watch Issued for Multiple Counties

A Tornado Watch has been issued for several counties in the area. The watch is in effect until 8 PM CST.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Tornado Watch for the following counties:

• Cook County
• DuPage County
• Kane County
• Kendall County
• Lake County
• McHenry County
• Will County

A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop. Residents in the affected counties should be prepared to take shelter if a tornado warning is issued.

The NWS recommends that residents take the following precautions:

• Stay indoors and away from windows.
• Go to the lowest level of your home and stay in a small, interior room, such as a closet or bathroom.
• If you are outside, seek shelter in a sturdy building or lie down in a ditch and cover your head with your hands.
