Greece Bans Mobile Phones From Schools

Students no longer allowed to use or possess mobile phones during school hours

New law aims to improve student focus and reduce distractions

The Greek government has banned mobile phones from schools, effective immediately. The new law, passed by the Greek parliament on Wednesday, prohibits students from using or possessing mobile phones during school hours.

The ban applies to all students, from kindergarten through high school. Students who violate the ban will be subject to disciplinary action, including detention or suspension.

The Greek government says the ban is necessary to improve student focus and reduce distractions. Studies have shown that mobile phone use can interfere with students' attention, memory, and ability to learn.

  • A study by the University of California, Los Angeles found that students who used their mobile phones during class scored lower on tests than students who did not use their phones.
  • A study by the London School of Economics found that students who were exposed to mobile phone notifications during a lecture had difficulty paying attention and remembering the material.

The Greek government hopes that the ban on mobile phones will help students to focus on their studies and improve their academic performance.
